Kazakhstan - Syria 67:77

Syria beat Kazakhstan 77-67 for the initial win at the FIBA Asia Cup. Kazakhstan grabbed at first a 26-16 lead, but could not catch up with the opponents in the rest of the game. Syria replied with a 21-7 run in the second period and won the third quarter 24-13.
Omar Cheikh-Ali (204-F-1991) top-scored for the winners with 20 points, whilst Nadeem Issa (185-G-1990) and Abdulwahab Alhamwi (218-C-1990) notched 15 each. Oleg Balashov (181-PG-1999) answered with 16 points in a loss, whilst Vladimir Ivanov (205-C-1994) netted 9.
